New to physical therapy? We have answers to your questions right here.
No. In California, you do not need a prescription or physician referral to be evaluated by a physical therapist.
While many of our patients are referred by their physicians or surgeons, you are welcome to schedule an evaluation directly with one of our physical therapists. During your initial visit, we will perform a thorough assessment, discuss your goals, and determine the most appropriate plan of care. If we identify signs or symptoms that require medical evaluation beyond our scope of care, we will help guide you to an appropriate healthcare provider.
At TAG Physical Therapy, our goal is to make it easy for you to access expert care and begin your recovery as quickly as possible. Our team is happy to verify your benefits and help you understand any requirements before your first appointment.
In most cases, no. If your physician provides a prescription or referral for physical therapy, you have the right to choose where you receive your care. Even if a referral does not specifically list TAG Physical Therapy, it is usually valid for treatment at our clinic.
At TAG Physical Therapy, we believe patients should have the freedom to choose the provider that best meets their needs and goals.
TAG Physical Therapy is a preferred provider for most PPO insurances including Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Medicare, United Health Care, Tricare and several others. Additionally, we are a provider for UCLA managed care HMO patients. We will gladly verify your specific physical therapy benefits prior to your first visit.
We accept cash, check, debit card, credit card and Zelle. It is our policy that payment is made at the time of service.
We are happy to discuss payment plan options as well. We also offer a private pay plan for those patients who do not have insurance, have maxed out their annual insurance benefits, or have a plan we do not accept.
Yes! We are pleased to offer ample, free parking at both of our TAG locations.
We offer appointments throughout the day, beginning at 8 AM and scheduling as late as 6:30 PM. We also offer Saturday hours from 8 AM to 12 PM.
Your first visit begins with a one-on-one evaluation with a licensed physical therapist. We will discuss your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and goals, then perform a thorough assessment of your condition.
Based on our findings, we will explain the cause of your symptoms, answer your questions, and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs. Our goal is for you to leave your first appointment with a clear understanding of your condition and a plan to help you return to the activities you enjoy.
You should wear comfortable clothing and shoes. If you are an ankle, knee or hip patient, please wear or bring shorts with you. (In case you forget them, we have extra gym shorts here to borrow.) If you are a shoulder patient, wear loose and/or sleeveless clothing or we have patient gowns for you to wear.
Each session is approximately one hour, depending on the therapist’s treatment program.
